Help Fix the Labour Shortage Problem in Canadian Agriculture

January 9, 2015

The Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council  (CAHRC) is doing a research project called NAOF ‚Äì the National Agricultural Occupational Framework and Labour  Market Support project. This project is an in-depth study of  the exact jobs and skills associated with modern agriculture.

At this time, agricultural producers are being offered a unique opportunity to give ground floor input into the labour needs of the agricultural industry – and we urge you to participate.

The purpose of this project is to help fix the labour shortage problem in Canadian agriculture. This will be done by:

  • Identifying exactly what the jobs and needed skills are;
  • Developing the training and job boards or job matching services to connect producers with workers who have the right skills; and,
  • Training producers with solid HR skills on how to access, train and retain workers.
