At a time when the agriculture and agri-food sectors are experiencing a labour shortage, a new report from the Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council (CAHRC) has determined that when it comes to housing, its inaccessibility and lack of affordability in rural Canada are impeding the industry’s workforce growth. The research comes from a need identified through the National Workforce Strategic Plan on Agriculture and Food and Beverage Manufacturing working groups, an initiative co-led by CAHRC, Food and Beverage Canada (FBC) and the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA), supported by the Future Skills Centre.
