The Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council (CAHRC) is a national, non-profit organization delivering trusted labour market information (LMI), skills analysis, and workforce solutions for Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector.
Our work supports a resilient and innovative workforce across the food, fuel, and fibre value chain—helping the sector respond to evolving labour, skills, and productivity challenges. CAHRC leads the National Workforce Strategic Plan (NWSP) for Agriculture and Food and Beverage Manufacturing and advances inclusive workforce initiatives, including those focused on women in agriculture and Indigenous engagement.
Agriculture and agri-food is a dynamic, technology-enabled sector where employers are environmental stewards, economic contributors, and essential to Canada’s food security. CAHRC collaborates with industry, government, and partners across Canada to ensure decisions are evidence-based and impactful.
Position Summary
CAHRC is seeking a highly organized and collaborative Manager, Sector Initiatives and Engagement to lead the development and delivery of strategic projects that advance national workforce priorities.
This role is responsible for managing initiatives related to women in agriculture, Indigenous engagement, and the National Workforce Strategic Plan (NWSP). The Manager will oversee full project lifecycles—ensuring delivery within scope, time, budget, and quality standards—while engaging stakeholders, supporting research and communications, and contributing to business development activities.
The successful candidate will be required to travel approximately 20% of the time to attend meetings and represent CAHRC at events across Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery
Manage the planning, execution, and evaluation of sector initiatives and projects
Develop and manage project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables
Monitor, track, and report on project progress, outcomes, and risks
Implement project management processes, including change control, risk, and quality management
Ensure all project outputs meet high-quality standards and stakeholder expectations
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across industry, government, and equity-deserving groups
- Manage working groups, meetings, and engagement activities, including documentation and follow-up
- Liaise with project champions and partners to ensure effective collaboration and delivery
- Identify emerging stakeholder needs and opportunities for new initiatives
Research, Communications & Knowledge Mobilization
- Support research and development activities, including synthesis and dissemination of findings
- Develop and deliver reports, presentations and content for communications materials
- Support marketing and outreach activities related to the NWSP and sector initiatives
- Translate complex information into accessible, actionable insights for diverse audiences
Operational Excellence & Reporting
- Manage day-to-day project operations, including documentation and file management
- Ensure timely invoicing and alignment with financial forecasts
- Maintain accurate and complete project records, reports, and deliverables
- Apply and uphold organizational project management standards and procedures
Business Development

- Contribute to the development of proposals and future funding opportunities

Education
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Human Resources, Agriculture or related discipline.
Experience
At least 3 years of experience working in strategic research and evaluation-related activities.
At least 3 years of experience working in the stakeholder engagement-related projects, including those from equity deserving groups.
At least 3 years of experience as Project Manager.
At least 1 year of experience in planning collaborative initiatives (e.g. working groups, events, communities of practice)
Knowledge & Skills
Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint software.
Other Requirements
Project Management Professional Certification (desirable).
Bilingual (English/French) (desirable
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $70,000 –$76,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Comprehensive group benefits following a three-month probation period.
Vacation: Four weeks annually.
Sick Leave: Twelve paid sick days per year.
Retirement: Mandatory participation in a 50/50 RRSP program with a 5% employer contribution.
